We are redesigning the NRPF Network website to make it easier for you to find support and information online.

We’d like to invite you to take a survey and share your feedback so we can make sure the new website works better for you.

The survey should take about 10 to 20 minutes. It is open until 14 June.

  2. 2. Special educational needs and disabilities
  3. 3. Free school transport

Free school transport

A council may be able to provide free school transport to a child if they live a certain distance from their school, there is no safe walking route or if they are unable to walk due to having special educational needs (SEN) or a mobility problem.

Free school transport schemes operate broadly the same in each nation but there may be some small differences in the eligibility criteria and how to access this support. For more information on free school transport see the government websites in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Free school transport is not classed as a public fund for immigration purposes and can be accessed by child regardless of their, or their parent's, immigration status, including a person who is subject to the ‘no recourse to public funds’ (NRPF) condition.
