Information we collect, hold and use

We collect your personal information when you:

  • Access our practice guidance using our online reader
  • Sign up to join the NRPF Network to receive news updates and information about its services
  • Book onto a training course

Your personal information is processed in accordance with our obligations under applicable data protection laws and regulations, for the following reasons:

  • To enable us to monitor and improve some of our online services
  • To provide information and deliver the training services that you have purchased (and meet your catering and accessibility requirements) as well as informing you about the training event
  • To provide you with the information that you have asked for (such as the e-bulletin)
  • For internal administrative purposes, for example, payment of training fees
  • To respond to any specific questions

Your data is stored on a secure server and we will not share your details with any other organisations or third parties.

NRPF Network mailing list

We use Mail chimp, to manage our sign up process and to send out our e-bulletin. When you request to join our mailing list to receive our e-bulletin, your personal details (name, employer, job title and email address) will be stored and processed by Mail chimp. Every e-bulletin will contain a link that you can select if you wish to unsubscribe or amend your details at any time.

Training bookings

When you have booked a place on one of our open access training courses, we store your personal details and information about the course you have booked onto. We also collect information about accessibility requirements and dietary requirements if this has been specifically given to us to use as part of administering the training course.

As our courses are all paid for, we are legally required to store this information for a period of seven years to comply with VAT and tax requirements. After that period, your personal information will be deleted.

Online reader

When you access our practice guidance using our online reader we collect personal data (your online identifier) through cookies which tell us which pages you are accessing. We do this to help make sure the guidance we produce is meeting the needs of its users and to help us make improvements.

Cookies

To make this site and using the online reader simpler, we sometimes place small data files on your computer. These are known as cookies. Most big websites do this too. They improve things by:

  • Remembering settings, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you visit a new page
  • Remembering information you’ve given (e.g. your postcode) so you don’t need to keep entering it
  • Measuring how you use the website so we can make sure it meets your needs

By using our website or the online reader, you agree that we can place these types of cookies on your device.

Our cookies aren’t used to identify you personally. They’re just here to make the site work better for you. You can manage and/or delete these small files by changing your cookie settings.

To learn more about cookies and how to manage them, visit AboutCookies.org

Measuring website usage (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to collect information about how people use this site and the online reader. We do this to make sure the website is meeting users’ needs and to understand how we could improve it.

Google Analytics stores information about what pages you visit, how long you are on the site, how you got there and what you clicked on. We do not collect or store your personal information other than your IP address (e.g. not your name or address). We do not try to identify you from your IP address.

We also collect information on the number of times particular search terms are used and the number of failed searches. We use this information to improve access to the site and to identify gaps in the information content.
