Universal offer for 3 and 4 year olds

All children in England aged 3 and 4 are entitled to 15 hours per week of free childcare or early education.

This support is not restricted by immigration status and can be accessed regardless of the child’s or their parent’s status, including where a parent is subject to the no recourse to public funds (NRPF) condition.

The universal offer provides 570 hours per year, which must be taken over at least 38 weeks. This is typically taken as 15 hours per week during term time, although some providers may offer flexibility.

More information and how to apply

Further information about eligibility and how to apply is available in government guidance on 15 hours free childcare.

Local authorities can refer to the statutory guidance on early education and childcare
