Condition Surveys

We are checking council homes to see what repairs or improvements are needed. We also want to make sure your home is safe. Our partner, Ridge, will visit homes to do these checks. You will get a letter from us first. The visit will usually happen within six weeks after that.

When we visit

  • Visits will be between Monday and Friday, from 8am to 6pm
  • You need to be at home when Ridge comes
  • If you are not home, they will leave a card. You can use this card to book a new time.

The person visiting will have:

  • a Ridge photo ID card
  • a letter from us
  • please ask to see their ID before letting them in.

What will be checked

The surveyor will need to look at:

  • all rooms in your home
  • the garden
  • the roof space and other external spaces.

They will take photos of important things like:

  • your kitchen and bathroom
  • windows and boiler
  • anything that looks unsafe.

They will not take photos of you or anyone in your home. If you have pets, please keep them in another room during the visit. The check will take less than one hour in most homes.

Sometimes, we will collect extra information to make an Energy Certificate for your home. This certificate shows how good your home is at saving energy.

It uses a scale from A to G, where A is the best and G is the worst. This helps us understand how much it might cost to heat and power your home.

After the visit

We will use the information to plan future repairs and improvements.

The person visiting cannot help with small repairs or housing questions. Please contact us in the usual way to report any issues.
